from the Stack's Bowers October 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70464

This specimen was lot 70464 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $55. The catalog description^[1] noted, "CURACAO. 5 Cents, 1943. Philadelphia Mint. Wilhelmina. NGC MS-66. Diamond shaped. With just three graded finer, this alluring, steely gray specimen is undoubtedly one of the finest known, boasting a great pedigree as well. Ex: Richard L. Lissner Collection (St. James's [& CNG] 29 - 8/2014) Lot # 1325.4." The SCWC files this under Curaçao but Schulman catalogs this as a homeland type. This square type was struck 1913-14, 1923, 1929 and 1932-40.
