This specimen was lot 32739 in Heritage Sale 3115 (Chicago, May 2024), where it sold for $6,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "Netherlands: Wilhelmina gold Proof Ducat 1922 PR63 Cameo NGC, Utrecht mint. Seahorse privy mark. An exceptionally desirable and elusive Proof striking, unlisted in Krause and the first of this date we've handled. Wholly reflective and deserving of its Cameo assignment. From the Coenen Collection." The kingdom of the Netherlands began striking ducats in 1814, when most countries had discontinued the denomination. This subtype was struck 1894-95, 1899-1917, 1920-28, 1932, 1937 and most dates are common. Some issues of 1922 have a halberd privy mark.

Recorded mintage: 49,837, a scarce date.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.983 fine fine gold, 21 mm diameter, slant reeded edge.
