The first specimen was lot 73317 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. 10 Cents, 1890. Utrecht Mint; privy mark: broadaxe. William III. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. This delightfully choice specimen presents an intense array of shimmering luster along with a golden-amber nature sprinkled throughout." The second specimen was lot 24336 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[2] noted, "NETHERLANDS. 10 Cents, 1890. Utrecht Mint; privy mark: halberd. William III. PCGS MS-66 Gold Shield. The final year of issue, this glorious specimen presents a shimmering, cameo-like nature near the central portions, while the peripheries are dominated by a vibrant golden-cobalt allure." This type was struck 1849-90 and is not common in nice condition. This late date is fairly available but many of the early dates are rare.

Recorded mintage: 2,600,000.
