Netherlands 1879 10 gulden
This specimen was lot 1350 in Jean Elsen sale 123 (Brussels, December 2014), where it sold for €250 (about US$363 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NEDERLAND, Koninkrijk, Willem III (1849-1890), AV 10 gulden, 1879 (over 1877). Prachtig à FDC. (kingdom of the Netherlands, William III (1849-90), gold ten gulden of 1879/7, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This is a common date of a common type struck in the Netherlands 1876-89 during the reign of William III, tho the overdate obtains a premium. Ten gulden gold pieces were struck to this standard 1819-1933. They weigh about 4% more than French twenty francs.
