Sincona sale 23, lot 2938

This specimen was lot 2938 in Sincona sale 23 (Zürich, May 2015), where it sold for 2,100 CHF (about US$2,638 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Königreich der Niederlande, Wilhelm I. 1815-1840 10 Gulden 1833. Utrecht. Fast FDC. (kingdom of the Netherlands, William I (1815-40), ten gulden of 1833, Utrecht mint, choice uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1818-40 at Utrecht. The common dates are 1824-B, 1825-B and 1840; the rest are scarce to rare. The contemporary French gold twenty francs was 6.45 g.

Recorded mintage: 721,362.

Specification: 6.73 g, 0.900 fine gold, .194 troy oz AGW, 22.5 mm diameter. This specimen 6.72 g.
