Goldberg sale 69, lot 4240

This specimen was lot 4240 in Goldberg sale 69 (Los Angeles, May, 2012), where it sold for $1,437.50. The catalog description ^[2] noted, "Netherlands. Ducat, 1809 (Holland). Louis Napoleon. Head left. Reverse: Knight standing. Nice original mint luster. NGC graded MS-61." Louis Napoleon was briefly the ruler of the Kingdom of Holland 1806-10. When he showed signs of independent thinking, his brother Napoleon evicted him and annexed the kingdom to the empire of France. This type is joined by another ducat with a shield reverse (Fr-322).

Recorded mintage: 2,370,620 for this type and KM 38.
