Netherlands 1807 ducat Fr-325

Sincona sale 18, lot 2980

This specimen was lot 2980 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted,

"Dukat 1807. Utrecht. Sehr schön. (Batavian Republic, ducat of 1807, Utrecht mint, very fine.)"

Louis Napoleon was briefly the ruler of the Kingdom of Holland 1806-10. When he showed signs of independent thinking, his brother Napoleon evicted him and annexed the kingdom to the empire of France. The straight 7 in the date identifies this specimen as a Utrecht product.

Recorded mintage: about 622,000 struck at Utrecht (shown here) and 1,940,000 struck in Russia.
