This specimen was lot 42433 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Naples & Sicily (as the Two Sicilies). 3 Ducats, 1856. Naples Mint. Ferdinando II. NGC AU-55. A charming minor denomination in gold, this near-Mint specimen provides a good deal of luster remaining along with very little in the way of handling to the high points." This type was struck 1850-56, just before the unification of Italy. This is the scarcest date.
