This specimen was lot 1037 in Stephen Album internet sale 28 (Santa Rosa, CA, July 2024), where it sold for $90. The catalog description^[1] noted, "ITALIAN STATES: NAPLES: Ferdinand II, 1830-1859, AR 60 grana, 1836, with some small adjustment marks as is common, light hairlines, AU." The Kingdom of the Two Sicilies was annexed to Italy in 1860 but remains poor, backward and corrupt. This type was struck 1835-39 and was worth half a piastra. Ferdinand became known as "king Bomba" after he ordered his navy to shell the city of Messina in 1848.
