This specimen was lot 23095 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Naples & Sicily. 120 Grana, 1836. Ferdinand II. PCGS MS-64 Gold Shield. A crisply detailed coin with even gray toning, subtle luster, and some adjustment marks on the reverse. From the Jasmine Collection." The Bourbons of Naples were generally despised and ridiculed as incompetent. There was discussion at the Congress of Vienna of allowing Joachim Murat to keep the throne but when he threw in his lot with Napoleon during the Hundred Days, he was captured and shot. After the collapse of Napoleon, king Ferdinand was restored in 1815. The Bourbons would rule until 1860.
