The first specimen was lot 1318 in Stephen Album sale 32 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2018), where it sold for $998.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "NAPLES: Ferdinand IV, 1815-1816, AE 8 tornesi, 1816, partial original red luster and rare in mint state! PCGS graded MS62 BR. Ferdinand was restored for a second time following the Austrian victory at the Battle of Tolentino, 3 March 1815, over rival monarch King Joachim I. On 8 March 1816 he merged the thrones of Sicily and Naples into the throne of the Two Sicilies." The second specimen was lot 1036 in Stephen Album internet sale 28 (Santa Rosa, CA, July 2024), where it sold for $96. The catalog description[2] noted, "ITALIAN STATES: NAPLES: Ferdinand I, 1815-1825, AE 8 tornesi, 1818, original dark toning and a hairline scratch on the cheek, XF-AU." This one year type is expensive. The subsequent issue (KM 273) had a different obverse legend.
