This specimen was lot 72060 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Naples & Sicily (as the Two Sicilies). 5 Tornesi, 1816. Ferdinand I. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. An EXTREMELY RARE single year issue, this charming, problem-free example offers wholesome surfaces with chocolate brown allure and radiating brilliance. An incredible find for the seeker of Italian rarities." This rare type was supplanted by the equally rare KM 271, which had a different obverse legend. This was a little used denomination.
