An utterly phenomenal grade for any issue from the 18th century, let alone a minor denomination that would usually have seen heavy circulation, the piece at hand surpasses all expectations, gorgeously and lavishly toned with maroon and sky-blue hues and clearly struck from heavily polished dies. A gem in all respects." This type was struck 1788-92. In the Neapolitan system, six cavalli = one tornese; 240 tornese = one piastra. Ferdinand IV was the third son of Charles III, king of Spain 1759-88 and the younger brother of Charles IV.
