This specimen was lot 476 in a recent Soler y Llach sale (Barcelona, November 2009). The catalog description noted,
"Carlino. 1689 AG/A. Nápoles. AR (rayas). MBC" (silver carlino of 1689, Naples mint, Extremely fine with scratches).
This type is listed in the SCWC for 1687-90. The SCWC does note that 12 carlini = 6 tari = 1 piastra, where a piastra is roughly equal to a peso. Charles II, the last Hapsburg king of Spain, was also king of Naples and Sicily. After his death the area passed out of the hands of the Spanish crown, only to be reconquered by them in the 1730's.
