This specimen was lot 34334 in Heritage sale 3082 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italy: Naples & Sicily. Charles II of Spain Carlino 1699 MS65 NGC. Though designated as "common" by MIR, this certainly cannot be said to be true in this exceptional state, unmistakably gem and blazing with mint luster and masterful execution. For reference, we note that a similar piece brought over $900 in NAC's December 2018 Auction 112." This type was struck 1693-1700 and was worth ten grani or one twelfth of a piastra.
