This issue was minted in Lisbon in 1945 for the Portuguese colony of Mozambique. It was the second coin of its denomination. The coin is uncommon. The next escudo was struck in 1950-51. The Portuguese withdrew from Mozambique in 1975, triggering a multifactional war that continued for decades.
