from Steve Album sale 45, lot 1619

This specimen was lot 1619 in Stephen Album sale 45 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2023), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "MOZAMBIQUE: Portuguese Colony, AR 2½ escudos, 1938, stamped PROVA, a fantastic quality specimen example! PCGS graded Specimen 66." This type was struck for circulation in 1938, 1942 and 1950-51. This example was stamped PROVA but is otherwise identical.

Recorded mintage: 1,000,000.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.650 fine silver.
