This specimen was lot 1308 in Goldberg Sale 139 (Los Angeles, June 2024), where it sold for $600. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mongolia. 200 Tugrik, 1993. Year of the Rooster. PCGS graded Proof 69 Deep Cameo. The Peh Collection Part II." The collapse of communism allowed the people of Mongolia to wrest their country free of dictatorship in 1990-92. The country remains poor, and the sale of NCLT's helps. We wonder how the mintage and sale of 500 pieces could earn any significant amount of foreign exchange.
Recorded mintage: 500.
Specification: 3.11 g, 0.999 fine gold, 0.100 troy oz AGW.
Catalog reference: Fr-B2, KM-63.
