Misox (1487-1518) cavallotto
This specimen was lot 1679 in Sincona sale 76 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 1,500 CHF (about US$1,821 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND | Grisons | Misox. Johann Jakob Trivulzio, 1487-1518. Cavallotto o. J. Roveredo. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Gutes vorzüglich. NGC AU58. (Switzerland, Graubunden, marquisate of Misox, John Jacob Trivuzio, 1487-1518, undated cavalloto, Roveredo mint. Rare in this condition, Good extremely fine.)"
The marquisate of Misox or Mesocco is now in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. Gian Giacomo Trivulzio (1440/41 – 1518) was an Italian aristocrat and condottiero who held several military commands during the Italian Wars.
