Steve Album sale 30, lot 1304
Milan SA30-1304r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1304 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MILAN: Francesco II, 1792-1797, AR ½ lira, 1792, homage to emperor on his accession, some authorities identify as medallic issue, AU." This type is unlisted in KM and is likely similar to the acclamation medals "spontaneously" issued in Hispanic countries on the occasion of a new reign. The Hispanic ones were good silver and definitely circulated, even if that was not the original intent.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, 2.60-3.11 g, this specimen 3.10 g.

Catalog reference: CNI V, p. 412, no. 5.
