This specimen was lot 4904 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €280 (about US$385 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Leopold II., 1790-1792. Kronentaler 1791 M, Mailand. Feine Patina, min. justiert, sehr schön-vorzüglich. Aus der Sammlung Kommerzialrat Dr. Herbert Wenzel, Wien. (Holy Roman Empire, Leopold II, 1790-92, crown thaler of 1791, Milan mint. Fine patina, minor adjustments, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This two year type struck during Leopold II's brief reign is very scarce. The purchaser of this lot obtained a bargain. This denomination was struck for Francis II until 1799 and the loss of Milan to the French.
