This specimen was lot 4851 in Goldberg sale 74 (Los Angeles, June 2013), where it sold for $357 including buyer's fees. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italian States - Milan. 5 Soldi, 1784. Joseph II. Crowned shield of Milan snake arms. Reverse: Value within wreath, date below. NGC graded MS-62." This denomination, equal to one fourth of a lira, was struck on occasion starting in 1722. This, the final type, was issued 1780-887. The design prominently features the arms of Milan, derived from the arms of the Visconti, featuring a crowned snake swallowing a child.
