This specimen was lot 73262 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 5 Onza (Ounces), 2002-Mo. Mexico (Potosi) Mint. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Tied for finest certified of the date with 8 other examples on the NGC population report. Despite a mid-size mintage, this date seldom appears on the market and should be considered SCARCE. Garnering a near perfect grade from NGC, this handsome large format issue boasts crisp frosted devices with hard reflective mirrored fields. Faint attractive tone is noticed on the obverse rims with area of slight haze mentioned for accuracy." This type was struck in small numbers 1996-2024. The mintage shown here is typical.
