This specimen was lot 1121 in Goldberg sale 46 (Beverly Hills, May 2008), where it sold for $16,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico - Republic. 8 Reales, 1823-Mo-JM (Mexico City). Flat-topped 3. Hooknecked-eagle, left, holding looped snake. Reverse: Liberty Cap, rays behind. Laurel leaf edge. Bold strike, with brilliant fields and somewhat matte devices.
