Heritage sale 3010, lot 21533

This specimen was lot 21533 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Carlos IIII gold 8 Escudos 1798-FM, XF40 NGC, lightly toned and fully original, an attractive coin. From the Don Benito Collection of Hispanic Gold." This type was struck in Mexico 1792-1808 and is the most available of Mexican colonial eight escudos but remains expensive. Assayer FM is noted for the years 1784-1801.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.875 fine gold, .761 troy oz AGW.
