Mexico 1747-Mo MF 2 escudos Fr-10
This specimen was lot 31039 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $14,100. The catalog description[1] noted, "Philip V gold 2 Escudos 1747 Mo-MF AU50 NGC, Mexico City mint. Attractive for the assigned grade with substantial subjacent luster, only slight high-point wear and scattered, mild abrasions on the fields. Extremely rare with 3 examples confirmed by the cataloguer, one of which-a holed VF coin-is impounded as part of the Banco de Mexico collection. Missing in Norweb, Gerber and Eliasberg, and the first public offering of this date the cataloguer is aware of. The finest of only three pieces known to the cataloguer, the only piece currently certified [b]y NGC, and an eminently desirable coin is this enchanting quality. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins." The SCWC awards no premium for this date of this type struck in Mexico 1732-47.
