This specimen was lot 558 in Sedwick Auction 37 (Winter Park, FL, May 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO, Mexico City, cob ½ real, 1709 J, very rare, ex-Hubbard. Full 170 of date but last digit weak, full oMJ, well-centered full monogram, lightly toned Good with lots of green encrustation. Pedigreed to the Clyde Hubbard Collection, with his tag." This specimen is a silver cob half real struck at Mexico City. Specimens with clear dates are unusual but are much more available than the very scarce half reales of Charles II. Cayón lists every date from 1701 to 1733, when the Mexico City mint permanently adopted milled coinage.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.931 fine silver, this specimen 1.52 grams.

Catalog reference: Cayón-8139, S-M22; KM-24; Cal-218.
