This specimen was lot 749 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 35 (Winter Park, FL, May 2024), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales, 1672 G, very rare. Oblong flan with blunted corner-points in edge, much flatness from uneven thickness and hammering (as made, net VG) but with most of oMG and clear 2 and trunk of 7 of date." The SCWC mentions this type for 1667-1701 and notes 1667-77 with assayer "G". Few of these early cobs have legible dates.
