This specimen was lot 541 in Sedwick Auction 37 (Winter Park, FL, May 2025), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 1 real, 1634 (P), very rare. SOdd-shaped flan (squarish but with two rounded sides) with nearly full well-centered cross, clear bottom half of 34 of date above mintmark oM, lightly toned with some dark areas near edge, VG/AVF overall." This specimen is a silver cob one real struck at Mexico City 1621-65. Specimens with clear dates are unusual to the point that many dates are unlisted in the SCWC. In 1728, cobs were debased from .931 to 0.917 fine silver.
