This specimen was lot 45758 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, September 2026), where it sold for $732. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Mansfeld. Taler, 1522. Eisleben Mint. Gunther IV, with Ernst II, Hoyer VI, Gebhard VII & Albrecht VII. NGC EF Details--Tooled. From the Heisner Collection from Down Under. Ex: Kunker 83 (7/2024) Lot # 2035." Mansfeld and its subdivisions were counties of utmost insignificance except for its silver mines which provided the material for an abundance of thalers. This early thaler of 1521-23 was a joint issue of all the lines. A double thaler and 1½ thaler also exist.
