Maldives 1979 20 rufiyaa

Stack's Bowers November 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 78165

This specimen was lot 78165 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2025), where it sold for $432. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MALDIVES. Silver 20 Rufiyaa Piefort, AH 1399/1979. International Year of the Child. PCGS PROOF-69 Deep Cameo." Numista says this NCLT was struck at the Valcambi mint in Switzerland. While the auction description does not so state, piedforts are customarily double thick.

Recorded mintage: 12,000 proofs plus 100 pieforts.

Specification: 28.28 g, 0.925 fine silver, 38.6 mm diameter.
