Malaysia 1979 ringgit

Stack's Bowers February 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 75382

This specimen was lot 75382 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $65. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MALAYSIA. Ringgit, 1979. Franklin Mint. PCGS PROOF-69 Deep Cameo. On the cusp of perfection, with deep mirrors and full frost." This type, which also comes with the "FM" mintmark, did not circulate. We're not sure what it was intended to commemorate, perhaps the bank building depicted on the obverse.

Recorded mintage: 8,000.

Specification: 17 g, 0.925 fine silver, 33.5 mm diameter.
