This specimen was lot 70197 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "MALAYA AND BRITISH BORNEO. 10 Cents, 1961-H. Heaton Mint. Elizabeth II. PCGS SPECIMEN-65. This handsome Gem Specimen offers reflective surfaces and a crisp application of details on the specially struck surfaces. Ex: Kings Norton Mint Collection." The Straits Settlements began as a miscellaneous group of trading stations in Southeast Asia and gradually developed into what is now Malaya. Coinage for the Straits Settlements ceased in 1935 and that of Malaya began in 1939 with a cent, five cents, ten cents (KM 4) and twenty cents. Coinage ceased in 1950 when the colony was merged with British North Borneo. This type was struck 1953-61 and is common.
