This specimen was lot 72169 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "MALAYA AND BRITISH BORNEO. 10 Cents, 1957-KN. Kings Norton Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-58 Gold Shield. Mostly argent in color with some areas minimal wear on the high points. Some underlying luster is still visible." The Straits Settlements began as a miscellaneous group of trading stations in Southeast Asia and gradually developed into what is now Malaya. Coinage for the Straits Settlements ceased in 1935 and that of Malaya began in 1939 with a cent (KM 2), five cents, ten cents (KM 4) and twenty cents. British Borneo was merged with Malaya in 1950. This type was struck 1953, 1957-61.

Recorded mintage: 10,000,000 including 1957-H.

Specification: 2.83 g, copper-nickel, 19.5 mm diameter (same module as a British sixpence).
