This specimen was lot 72168 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $90. The catalog description[1] noted, "MALAYA. 20 Cents, 1948. London Mint. NGC MS-64. A lovely example of the type with needle-sharp strike detail and soft cartwheel luster." The Straits Settlements began as a miscellaneous group of trading stations in Southeast Asia and gradually developed into what is now Malaya. Coinage for the Straits Settlements ceased in 1935 and that of Malaya began in 1939. This type was struck in London in 1948 and 1950 to the module of a British shilling. Coinage ceased in 1950 when the colony was merged with British North Borneo.

Specification: 5.65 g, copper-nickel, 23.6 mm diameter.
