This specimen was lot 2795 in Jean Elsen sale 160 (Brussels, November 2024), where it sold for €550 (about US$696 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "MACAO, Portuguese colony (1887-1999), AV 500 patacas, 1978. 25th anniversary of Grand Prix (with logo on car). Mintage 550 pcs. Encapsulated, in original case. Proof." This type was struck with and without advertising on the race car (KM 12 and 13) along with a silver 100 patacas (KM 10 and 11) to honor the 25th Grand Prix race held there.
Recorded mintage: 550 plus 5,500 of KM 13.
