This issue was minted in Lisbon for the Portuguese colony of Macao. This date, 1952, is the inaugural year for coins minted especially for Macao. The coin is common tho a one-year type. Unlike the other colonies of Portugal, there was never any agitation for independence but the colony was returned to China in 1999.

Recorded mintage: 2,560,000.

Specification: 5.5 g, copper-nickel, 20 mm diameter, plain edge.
