Luzern 1623 1/2 dicken
This specimen was lot 5345 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 450 CHF (about US$678 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ. Luzern. Stadt und Kanton. Halbdicken 1623, Luzern. Fast vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Luzern, half dicken of 1623, Luzern mint. About Extremely Fine.)"
This one year type is unusual in depicting St. Maurice rather than the usual St. Leodegar. It is quite scarce despite having twelve varieties listed in Wieland. In most cantons, half a dicken was twelve kreuzer but in Luzern it was one-eighth thaler.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 4.5 g, silver, 28 mm diameter, this specimen 4.10 g.
