Sincona sale 91, lot 3340

This specimen was lot 3340 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$185 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Luzern, Dicken 1621, Luzern. Sehr schön. Leicht korrodiert und gereinigt. (Switzerland, canton of Luzern, dicken of 1621, Luzern mint. Very fine, Slightly corroded and cleaned.)"

This type was struck 1617-22. In other cantons, the dicken was 24 kreuzer or 4/15 thaler but in Luzern it was worth a quarter thaler.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 7.8 g, silver, 31 mm diameter, this specimen 6.53 g.
