Sincona sale 70, lot 3411

This specimen was lot 3411 in Sincona sale 70 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 800 CHF (about US$1,062 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Lucerne | Stadt und Kanton. Dicken 1614, Luzern. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Lucerne, dicken of 1614, Luzern mint. Rare in this condition, Extremely fine.)"

The SCWC notes five different dickens for this canton in the seventeenth century: KM 15 (struck 1610), KM 16 (1610-12), KM 18 (1612-16, shown here), KM 19 (1617-22) and KM 27 (1623, 1647, 1656). None are cheap. A dicken was worth twenty-four kreuzer.
