Stack's Bowers 2021 NYINC sale, lot 24147

This specimen was lot 24147 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "LUXEMBOURG. 250 Francs, 1963. PCGS MS-65 Gold Shield. A bright, Gem quality coin with flashy luster and a freshly minted look." This type was struck in 1963 to commemorate the millennium of Luxembourg castle. A silver hundred francs accompanies this issue. Grand Duchess Charlotte (1896-1985) ruled 1919-64.

Recorded mintage: 11,500 in bright finish and 8,500 patinated by the mint.

Specification: 25 g, 0.835 fine silver, 37 mm diameter, .671 troy oz ASW.
