Sincoa sale 50, lot 1055

This specimen was lot 1055 in Sincona sale 50 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 9,500 CHF (about US$11,459 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Löwenstein-Wertheim-Virneburg, Grafschaft. Friedrich Karl, 1779-1806. Dukat 1799, Wertheim. FRIED : CARL REG : GRAF IN LOEW : WERTHEIM . Uniformiertes Brustbild nach rechts. Rv. Gekrönter, neunfeldiger Schild mit den Wappen von Löwenstein, Rochefort, Wertheim, Matagu, Bayern, Limpurg, Breuberg, Virneburg und Scharfeneck, unten mit anhängendem Ordensstern, zu den Seiten die geteilte Jahreszahl 17 - 99. Von grösster Seltenheit. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. Vorzüglich-FDC. Exemplar der Auktion Meister & Sonntag 4, Stuttgart 2006, Nr. 2151. (Germany, county of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Virneburg, Frederick Charles, 1779-1806, ducat of 1799, Wertheim mint. Obverse: uniformed bust to right; reverse: crowned ninefold shield of Löwenstein, Rochefort, Wertheim, Matagu, Bavaria, Limpurg, Breuberg, Virneburg and Scharfeneck, order star below divides the date. Of the highest rarity, Magnificent condition, Extremely fine-uncirculated.)"

This rare type accompanied a double ducat of the same year (KM 57). The state was mediatized in 1806.
