Lebanon 1933 piastre

The area of Lebanon was taken from Ottoman control after World War I, and placed under French mandate along with Syria. It was declared the Etat du Gran Liban in 1920. This piastre was struck in Paris in 1933 along with a five piastres (KM 5.2), a 25 piastres (KM 7) and a 50 piastres (KM 8). It was also issued in 1925, 1931 and 1936. This specimen was lot 912 in Stephen Album sale 32 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2018), where it sold for $411.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "LEBANON: piastre, 1933, PCGS graded MS67+."
