This specimen was lot 42456 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "KUWAIT. 50 Dinars, 1996. Llantrisant Mint. Jaber III al-Ahmad al-Sabah. NGC PROOF-68 Ultra Cameo." This NCLT was issued to mark the fifth anniversary of liberation from Iraqi occupation. We don't know why this coin is not marked with the AH date or the significance of the thumbprint on the reverse. It is priced in the SCWC at its bullion value.
