Kotah (1887)/30 nazarana rupee
This specimen was lot 710 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "KOTAH: Satrusal II, 1866-1889, AR nazarana rupee, Nandgaon, year 30 (1887), citing Queen Victoria, with collector's original index card with provenance and date of purchase, a pleasing lustrous mint state example, PCGS graded MS62, ex Anton Holt Collection." This tiny state, neighbor of Bundi and Jhalawar in central India, issued this type for years 1-43, none with calendar dates. Nazarana rupees were struck using thinner and broader flans to show the whole design and were usually made for presentation.
