This specimen was lot 73629 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $16. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Kotah. Rupee, Year 18 (1875). Muhammad Bahadur Shah II. NGC MS-61. Boldly struck on a characteristically thick planchet, this attractive Rupee still boasts ample mint luster and fresh surfaces. From a scarcely encountered state, Indian specialists are bound to be excited by this offering." This tiny state, neighbor of Bundi and Jhalawar, issued this dump rupee 1858-1901 (years 1-44). The SCWC notes it as common.
Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.
Specification: 11.2 g, 0.917 fine silver, 18-20 mm diameter.
