This specimen was lot 5047 in Goldberg sale 72 (Los Angeles, February 2013), where it sold for $891.25. The catalog description[2] noted, "Kiribati. 150 Dollars, 1979. Independence. Traditional meeting hut. NGC graded Proof 69 Ultra Cameo." Kiribati, formerly the British colony of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, is a group of coral islands in the Pacific. It was the scene of some of the fiercest battles of World War Two.

Recorded mintage: 422 with matte finish plus 386 proofs.

Specification: 15.98 g, 0.917 fine gold, .471 troy oz AGW.
