This specimen was lot 49317 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Khanate of Khiva. 2-1/2 Tenga, AH 1337 (1918/9). Sayyid Abdullah. PCGS EF-45. Full Sun variety. From the Yakov Averbuch Collection." Khiva had been a semi-independent khanate in tsarist times which seized its opportunity to declare a short-lived independence during the Russian Civil War. This type was struck AH 1337 along with one and five tenga. Hand cut dies were used, so many varieties exist. Sayyid Abdullah was the last khan of Khiva and was a puppet of the local warlord. He abdicated when the Bolsheviks arrived in 1920 and ended his days as a night watchman in a Ukrainian coal mine. The town is now in Uzbekistan.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 5.9 g, brass or bronze, 18-20 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-Y9.2.
