Khiva AH 1337 5 tenga KM-Y10.2
This specimen was lot 2275 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "KHIVA: Sayyid 'Abd Allah Khan, 1918-1920, AE 5 tenga, Khwarizm, AH1337/AH1337, crescent above full sun and stars, denomination falus besh tanga below, excellent strike, harshly cleaned, XF." Khiva had been a semi-independent khanate in tsarist times which seized its opportunity to declare a short-lived independence during the Russian Civil War. Stalin and the Russian Communists made short work of all the breakaway republics in the Caucasus and central Asia. The town is now in Uzbekistan. As the coins were struck from hand cut dies, many varieties exist.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
