This specimen was lot 25491 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), where it sold for $1,057.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Kampen. City gold Ducat ND (1590-3), XF45 NGC. A beautiful example of this imitative issue, evenly struck with clear legends and exceptional portraits. The flan is straight, unusual for this type, and the obverse module is near-perfectly centered. Rare thus." The towns of Deventer, Kampen and Zwolle are in central Overijssel and banded together in the mid-sixteenth century to issue coinage. This type is accompanied by a double ducat (Fr-149).
